Experience and attributes required for the role: Essential: Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience A full UK driver’s licence Working towards Chartered Engineer status Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Nuclear industry Understanding of design requirements to support nuclear safety cases Experience of managing sub-contracts Knowledge of safety regulations including CDM Experience of checking design documentation including drawings and supporting calculations Experience and/or ability of leading a technical team within a professional project delivery environment Organisation & Collaborations skills Demonstrable expertise in working to tight deadlines Desirable: Chartered Engineer and candidates nearing chartership are preferred. The Senior Structural Engineer is fundamentally a hands-on analysis and design-based role within the Civil & Structural department that generally includes interfacing with other engineering disciplines in the project design team. The Senior Structural Engineer also has a shared managerial responsibility in respect of Graduates, Apprentices and/or Designers in the team as and when required to do so. To be considered for the Senior Structural Engineer position the applicant must be delivering functions above that of a Design Engineer. Reporting to Principal Engineer.

Key Accountabilities Preparation of design documentation throughout the design process Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications Prepare supporting design calculations to substantiate design Contribution to design reviews Preparation of technical specifications Preparation of risk assessments, technical files and other technical documentation required by safety legislation and procedures Essential Knowledge of the fundamentals of structures and foundations using Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel. Design experience in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel. Knowledge and understanding of Structural steel connections and connection types. Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position Ability to work to tight deadlines, A strong team player. Desirable Nuclear experience or experience from within a highly regulated industry, A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel with overnight stays overs occasionally Experience of supervision. Occupational Skills and Knowledge A recognised Engineering Certificate such as HNC / HND / Degree

Civil Structural Engineer Permanent // Hybrid position Birchwood Park, Warrington Purpose of the job The Engineer is key in providing a design engineering service. The Engineer is responsible for the production of discipline specific design and engineering deliverables to support the project. Reports to Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer. Key Accountabilities Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification. Production of design deliverables throughout the design process. Checking and authoring of basic design calculations. Contribution to design and safety reviews. Preparation of technical specifications, risk assessments and installation method statements. Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process, Compliance with safety and statutory regulations, Develop cost effective technical solutions. Occupational Skills and Knowledge Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience, Associate membership of a discipline specific engineering institution.

Duties and Requirements Essential Knowledge and understanding of the fundamental structural engineering principles. Previous experience in the role of design in highly regulated industry, Demonstrable successfully delivering design solutions. Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations. Proven track record within a project environment. Self-motivation with strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Good commercial awareness. Desirable Degree Qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline. Able and motivated to work towards, or already have, Incorporated and/or Chartered status with the IStructE or ICE. Experience in the nuclear industry. Management of design teams in the technical delivery of projects. Management of sub-contractors. A full UK driving licence
