The Senior Energy Storage Engineer plays a critical role in directly supporting, coordinating, and leading on-site operations for subsurface energy storage assets. This includes oversight of field execution activities and acting as the technical authority during complex or high-risk programs.
The engineer will work closely with the VP of Energy Storage to ensure technical excellence, operational safety, regulatory compliance, and consistent delivery of high-quality engineering services.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Serve as the primary technical representative on site during major operations, ensuring programs for leaching, drilling, workovers, integrity testing, and cavern/reservoir commissioning are executed safely and according to approved procedures.
• Support engineering design and execution for:
o Salt cavern, mined cavern creation, leaching programs
o Cavern expansions and integrity testing
o Storage well drilling, completions, recompletions, sidetracks, and workovers
o Depleted reservoir conversion, modeling, and performance optimization
• Prepare engineering calculations, cavern development plans, leach schedules, and well program documentation.
• Contribute to geomechanical and well-integrity evaluations to ensure long-term stability of caverns and reservoirs.
• Support diagnostic planning, stimulation design, tool selection, and operational optimization.
• Provide real‑time engineering decision support, including adjusting operational parameters, validating diagnostics, and confirming compliance with the approved drilling, leaching, or workover
program.
• Supervise all critical path operations, including cavern washing cycles, MIT pressure holds and evaluations, workover rig activities, stimulation or cleanout runs, and wellbore intervention steps.
• Participate in or lead daily operational calls, pre-job safety meetings, with field supervisors and vendor crews to ensure alignment on the execution plan, HSE expectations, and risk controls.
• Oversee on‑site performance of rig contractors, leaching teams, wireline services, integrity‑test technicians, and specialized cavern‑operations vendors.
• Manage field‑level technical troubleshooting involving pressure anomalies, leach‑rate deviations, wellbore restrictions, or tool performance issues, coordinating with engineering and geomechanics teams as needed.
• Ensure strict compliance with HSE policies and all state/federal storage regulations during field execution, reinforcing stop‑work authority and verifying procedural adherence.
• Work closely with regulatory inspectors during on‑site evaluations, MIT witnessing, or facility inspections, providing technical explanations and documentation as required.
• Track KPIs related to safety, efficiency, downtime, cavern development rates, and well integrity performance, contributing to continuous‑improvement initiatives.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline.
• 10–15+ years of experience in subsurface operations, ideally including:
o Salt cavern storage engineering
o Leaching programs
o Well workovers and integrity evaluations
• Depleted reservoir storage planning and operations. Experience in key US storage sites (Mt Belvieu,
TX) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and support complex field operations.
• Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Willingness to travel to field sites as required, up to 50-70% of the time.

Geostock Sandia, LLC is seeking a motivated Staff Geoscientist to support our established Underground Injection Control (UIC) practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing comprehensive permit applications and technical reports for various UIC well classes, with a focus on [e.g., Class I and
Class VI] wells. This role requires a strong understanding of geology, hydrogeology, and environmental regulations and involves technical analysis, project management, and client communication.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Conduct geologic and hydrogeologic site characterizations for proposed and existing injection well facilities.
• Manage and research site and subsurface data, including well logs, core data, and regional geological information. Evaluate geologic and structural factors to define injection zones, confining zones, and the Area of Review (AoR).
• Prepare detailed technical reports and permit applications in compliance with federal (EPA) and state UIC program requirements. Synthesize geologic, hydrogeologic, geochemical, and geomechanical data to demonstrate that project sites are suitable for injection.
• Perform data management, record-keeping, and reporting related to injection operations and post-injection site care. Design and interpret data from hydrologic testing programs, including aquifer testing and monitoring plans.
• Provide technical support during drilling and well installation, including logging soil and rock cuttings. Assist with regulatory filings, communication with clients, and interface with federal and state agencies.
• Manage project schedules and budgets under the guidance of senior staff and project managers. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, environmental scientists, and other geoscientists.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Engineering is preferred.
• Zero to three years of experience in a relevant field, with direct experience on UIC projects preferred. Experience with state and federal UIC program regulations (e.g., EPA Class I, II, V, and VI). Knowledge of subsurface fluid flow, hydrogeology, and the geology of potential injection reservoirs.

SKILLS
• Strong technical writing and reporting skills, with the ability to summarize complex geological information clearly and concisely. Proficiency with relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite and geological modeling or GIS applications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for internal and external collaboration.
• Ability to conduct field work as needed, which may involve working in varying weather conditions.

The Vice President of Energy Storage is the company’s senior technical and operational leader for subsurface energy storage assets, including salt caverns, leaching operations, conversion and management of depleted reservoirs, and underground storage of natural gas, NGLs, and hydrocarbons.
This executive will oversee strategy, technical excellence, project execution, regulatory
compliance, risk management, and commercial development across the energy storage business line.
The VP will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and oversee both office‑based work and high‑impact field operations. Responsibilities include defining long‑term storage strategy, managing major capital projects, directing well and cavern operations, developing budgets, guiding client relationships, and ensuring safe and compliant execution of all programs.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Drive commercial growth through existing and new client engagement, proposal oversight, and development of new service offerings.
