Description of the assignment

NUVIA is a nuclear engineering specialist that has been part of the UK’s nuclear journey from the very beginning having been born out of the UK’s Atomic Energy Authority.

As we continue to grow and evolve, we are looking for a skilled and dynamic Communications Manager to join our team and help us communicate our success, values, and vision to key stakeholders, including employees, clients, industry partners, and the wider public.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance our reputation, support our business objectives, and ensure our messages are aligned with the company's goals. The role involves managing external communications, including media relations, social media strategy, content creation, stakeholder engagement, and crisis communication.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the narrative around our work in the nuclear engineering sector, supporting our growth, and raising our profile in the industry.


Main Responsibilities:

Strategic Communication Planning: Develop and implement a communications strategy that aligns with our overall business goals, enhancing our reputation in the nuclear engineering sector and beyond. Implement ways to measure the success of our communications strategy.

Media Relations: Cultivate strong relationships with key media outlets, respond to media inquiries, and manage proactive outreach and company announcements to drive positive coverage of company activities.

Content Creation: Oversee the production of high-quality written content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies, annual reports, and other corporate materials. Lead the development of engaging digital content for our website and social media channels.

Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and manage effective communication strategies for engaging with key stakeholders including government bodies, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and clients.

Social Media Strategy: Manage and grow the company’s presence on social media platforms, ensuring content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with the company’s brand.

Crisis Communication: Lead the development and execution of crisis communication plans, providing timely and accurate information during critical incidents.

Brand Consistency: Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels, promoting our company’s mission, values, and expertise.

Profile

 

Essential Criteria:

·       Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a communications role, preferably within the engineering, science & technology, nuclear or energy sectors.

·       Strong understanding of media relations, content creation, and digital communications strategies.

·       Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical information for a variety of audiences.

·       Strong background in developing and executing strategic communication plans and multi-channel campaigns, both internally and externally.

·       Experience managing multiple communication projects in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to meet competing deadlines.

·       Creative writing skills with a focus on producing engaging and relatable content that resonates with diverse audiences.

·       Excellent organisational skills, with experience in managing communication roadmaps and detailed plans.

·       Strong influencing and interpersonal communication skills.

·       Experience collaborating with external suppliers, providing clear briefings and guidance to ensure the creation of impactful content and events.

·       Ability to cultivate positive working relationships across all levels, including senior leadership and external stakeholders.

·       Demonstrated ability to assess the effectiveness of communication activities using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

·       Proficient in using social media platforms, content management systems, and  Monitoring/listening tools. Experience with SEO, web analytics.

·       Proven track record in communication roles.


Nuclear is quite niche and people might scan and see nuclear first and think they don’t have a chance and be put off applying.

Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications: A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
