Description of the assignment

Our Projects Division delivers high-value multi-discipline ground engineering schemes across the UK and Ireland. We offer a range of geotechnical solutions, as well as civil engineering, marine and tunnelling works, and we have the flexibility to act a principal contractor, joint venture partner or specialist subcontractor. 

Reporting to the Projects Division Estimating Manager, we are seeking an estimator who has experience in the pricing and presentation to clients of geotechnical engineering solutions, including Civils & Marne worker. We require someone who is interested in diversifying into pricing civil engineering works where we are working collaboratively with our clients, joint venture partners, and supply chain to overcome complex multi-discipline engineering challenges. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

The role will cover all aspects of the preconstruction work winning phase of a project opportunity with key responsibilities including:

  • Assisting with the management of incoming enquiries including the assessment prioritisation of business appropriate tender opportunities
  • Developing appropriate opportunity bid/win strategies
  • Collaboratively working with our technical and operations team and supply chain to prepare cost studies for internal governance review
  • Writing and presenting tender offers to our clients 
  • Engaging in client interactions and tender negotiations from receipt of enquiry through to contract aware and project handover to our operations team
  • Engaging with and assisting the Project Division Business Development Manager in identifying appropriate future clients and major project opportunities that would benefit from the value our division has to offer
  • Engaging with and assisting the Project Divisions Business Development Manager in providing continuing professional development presentations to our clients, and in attending appropriate client engagement events, industry exhibitions, etc

 

WORKING LOCATION

  • Normally based in our Camberley office with the expectation of being present four days per Monday to Friday working week
  • Travel as required to client offices, joint venture partner and/or project opportunity offices, project opportunity site locations, and Bachy Soletanche regional offices as required.

Profile

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A relevant civil engineering degree or bias towards geotechnical engineering and professional qualification status is preferrable
  • Ability to discharge professional duties with integrity and ability to behave with integrity in relation to all conduct bearing upon the standing, reputation and dignity of the company
  • Have full regard to matters of health and safety, well-being, the environment and sustainability
  • Significant experience of the UK geotechnical and civil engineering industry, including Marine works.
  • Essential understanding of the capabilities of our company
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with colleagues and clients
  • Proven ability to work well in a team as well as individual
  • Effective time management to ensure task deadlines are met
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and driven to providing a quality product and service for our clients
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Salesforce
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 and Candy is preferrable though not essential
  • Ability to develop professional knowledge, skills and competence on a continuing basis and ability to aid the professional development of others
  • Full UK driving license
