Description of the assignment
BIM/CAD Draughtsman is responsible for the development of all aspects to the 3D model, spatial coordination, project inter-discipline clashes detection & resolution, and extraction of related drawings, provide technical and discipline-specific support to BIM Specialists/Modelers for the HRBT project.
Working under direction of the BIM Lead, the BIM/CAD Draughtsman will be responsible for the enhancement, review, conditioning and validation of 3D and 4D building construction models on projects including independent detailed quantity extraction, for use in the evaluation of cost models, estimates and budget development and tracking and comparison of maturing models with previous versions for the purposes of progressive cost estimating, scheduling and change order analysis and negotiation.
Successful candidates will demonstrate an extensive knowledge of 3D software tools and techniques and have experience of the requirements of associated disciplines including, but not limited to, estimating and scheduling.
Additionally, successful candidates will possess a solid understanding of construction technology, construction means and methods, materials and their attributes/limitations and installation requirements; as well as have a demonstrated ability to perform or manage the following tasks and assignments:
- 3D model generation/adaptation, L.O.D.-1 thru 5.
- Object coding and revision of attributes.
- Detailed data extraction and tabulation of meaningful output reports providing information in a usable format for associated disciplines with no subsequent rework of data.
- Clash Reports.
- Federated 4D model generation for schedule and construction sequence analysis.
- File management.
- Controls, layering, standards etc.
Profile
Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- The ability to Create, Develop, Integrate and Coordinate 3D BIM project elements. Use shared format for As-built drawings and any other related documents as per the project’s BIM scope/standards.
- Prepare and/or review models of infrastructure disciplines (roadways, bridges, tunnel, and utilities).
- Responsible for identifying 3D model inconsistencies and reconditioning data to provide accurate and usable data that reflects the intent of the design model. Coordinates inside the CJV, the DJV and subcontractors to ensure that produced models answer requirements for 4D implementation.
- Implements and manages 4D simulations to support planning, temporary works, methods and producing teams. Updates the 4D simulations per teams’ needs.
- Support the creation of a model generation library of consistent components with embedded content that provides a seamless transition of data to subsequent processes.
- Review with the Project team leaders/Engineers layouts in order to highlight any design issues if any.
- Make Technical queries and clarify discrepancies between the various documents in many formats presented.
- Coordination / Collaboration between teams for Design-Built deliverables
Leveraging BIM software and tools as a methodology to coordinate design documentation. - Liaise with other team members to produce design solution as per best design practice.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
- Oversight assigned tasks to BIM Modelers team members.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in 3D modeling for large commercial / civil projects, coordination between subcontractors and design team, and managing of virtual design and construction process.
- Minimum two years’ professional proficiency in Synchro Software for 4D.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related and applicable field (Architecture, Civil Engineering, etc.).
- Minimum two years’ professional proficiency in Bentley modeling software (Microstation, AECOsim / OpenBuilding, Geopak SS4.
- Flexibility and ability to understand and implement B.I.M. standards with a multifaceted construction team and manage the delivery of quality product throughout the construction process of construction
- Understanding project workflows and project management.
- Technical knowledge of the BIM applications used, related systems and network infrastructure, and awareness of new technologies.
- High level knowledge of Bentley tools (v8i and/or Connect, at minimum Aecosim/OpenBuilding/OpenBridge) including parameterization, advanced use), ability to provide high level support.
- Knowledge of Autodesk products is a plus
- Strong communication and training skills to bring new team members up to speed.
