Title: Senior Design and Methods Engineer
Location: NSW, Australia (with travel as required by project needs)

 

Role Overview

In this key technical role, you will drive the design and implementation of advanced engineering methods for high-profile civil projects with a focus on bridge construction. You will ensure that our projects exceed the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and innovation. Your deep expertise in temporary works design and complex construction methods will be instrumental in maintaining our reputation for quality and excellence.

 


Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership:
Develop and lead innovative engineering designs for complex bridge projects, including precast segmental construction, incremental launching, balanced cantilever bridges, bridge jacking, post-tensioning, and the integration of stay cables.
Ensure all design solutions comply with the latest industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
Technical Oversight:
Produce, review, and refine detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation using advanced CAD tools.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and design teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including structural, geotechnical, and project management professionals—to ensure seamless project delivery.
Act as the primary liaison with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth and efficient project execution.
Technical Management:
Oversee the entire design process from initial concept through to final execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges, maintaining project momentum and mitigating risks.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Stay ahead of emerging trends and technological advancements in bridge design and construction methods.
Implement best practices that enhance project efficiency, safety, and overall performance.

 

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in civil engineering, specifically with a strong background in bridge design and construction.
Proven expertise in designing temporary works and implementing advanced construction methods for bridges.
High proficiency in CAD software for developing and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred:
Experience as a bridge designer or within an engineering department for a general contractor (GC) or similar organization.
Demonstrated track record in projects involving precast segmental construction, incremental launching, balanced cantilever bridges, and related construction techniques.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
