Purpose of the job
The Senior Piping Engineer will ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements throughout project phases, advise and direct the development of process and building service systems to meet project scope in a timely manner with the appropriate levels of quality.
Key Accountabilities
- Development of company pipe specifications suitable for process and building services,
- Oversea and review pipework arrangements throughout project design phases,
- Checking / approval of discipline specific design deliverables,
- Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews,
- Ensuring quality and timely delivery of documentation throughout all design phases,
- Compliance with safety legislation, industry codes and standards and statutory regulations,
- Staff development,
- Managing safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture,
- Management of contractors,
- Provide technical consultancy,
- Provide support during site surveys, installation and commissioning.
Profile
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
- Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience,
- Working towards or attained IEng (incorporated) status with the Engineering Council.
Duties and Requirements
Essential
- Knowledge and understanding of European Harmonised standards (BSEN) and ASME codes,
- Knowledge and understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques,
- Knowledge and understanding of the PSSR and PE(s)R,
- Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions,
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills,
- Good level of commercial awareness,
- Experience of leading design teams,
- Experience of bid preparation.
- Full membership of a discipline specific engineering institution.
Desirable
- Working towards or attained CEng (Chartered) status with the Engineering Council.
- Knowledge of Design software capability and outputs,
- Knowledge and understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations (CDM)
- Preparation of test procedures
- Experience of Engineering substantiation,
- Construction Site experience,
- Experience of working in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry.
