Description of the assignment

Rail Cantech is looking for a Project Manager for its Project Management Team that is building the Ottawa LRT Confederation Line Extension in Ottawa.

 

The project is located in Ottawa, and is split over two extensions of the existing Confederation Line with the East Connector adding 12.5km of double track from the existing Blair station into the suburbs of Orleans, and the West Connector adding 14.5km of double track.

Do you like challenges? This is what your day would look like:

Under the supervision of the director of operations, the project manager is responsible for carrying out rail infrastructure projects. He manages the technical execution of the project as well as the administrative follow-up. Due to his technical knowledge and expertise, the project manager will have to make day-to-day decisions regarding the execution of the work.

Project management :

  • Monitor and validate the execution of the work according to the plans, specifications and other specifications;
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines and the quality of work;
  • Plan the material, human and financial resources of the project;
  • Advise and propose new processes;
  • Participate in site coordination meetings.

Cost control:

  • Control construction costs and suggest areas for improvement;
  • Integrate site costs into the computer system.

Management of labor and subcontractors:

  • Check and validate the working methods of subcontractors and the quality of the work they perform;
  • Act as a leader and promoter of health and safety on construction sites.

Problem management

  • Identify and solve technical problems according to Group standards.

Profile

Do you want to become a member of our big family? You must :

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction engineering with 5 years of experience
  • Or have a DEC in civil engineering and 10 years of experience;
  • Bilingualism (English / French);
  • Hold a valid driver's license;
  • Have strong communication, management and negotiation skills;
  • Be recognized for its organization, its rigor and its autonomy;
  • Show imagination and ingenuity.
