Educational background: A university degree in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering, construction, or project management is preferable. We also welcome candidates with alternative qualifications combined with relevant experience.
Industry Experience: Proven track record in Sales, Business Development, or Account Management within the civil engineering, geotechnical, geosynthetic, or mining sectors.
Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements with precision.
Professional Networks: Established connections within civil engineering companies, EPCM firms, contractors, and consultants in your designated region.
Business Acumen: Demonstrated success in securing contracts and driving business growth in a technical sales environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset to tackle challenges.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CRM systems, sales reporting, and proposal preparation to streamline processes and enhance productivity.

Forge and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers, including Project Managers, Engineers, procurement teams, and senior executives.

Develop and implement strategic sales plans to increase market share and revenue.
Respond to tenders, RFQs, and project inquiries with compelling proposals and innovative technical solutions.
Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements to ensure profitable outcomes for the business.
Conduct client site visits, technical presentations, and product demonstrations to highlight Geoquest's expertise and capabilities.
Engage in early-stage project discussions to influence design and engineering decisions.
Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams to effectively meet client needs.
Represent Geoquest at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to enhance brand awareness and industry connections.
Stay informed about industry trends, engineering advancements, and regulatory requirements within your region and sectors.

About the role
We are seeking a full-time ongoing Business Development Manager/Engineer to continue our expansion and diversification objectives. You will be supported by a team of committed business development professionals and Engineers. You will be pivotal in achieving our budget targets and key commercial KPIs. You will also identify and secure projects while fostering long-term, effective relationships with clients in your designated region. The role will preferably be located in Sydney or Melbourne, but other locations will be considered.
