Description of the assignment

Coquitlam Ridge Constructors Ltd. (part of BA Blacktop group of companies) is currently seeking a team-oriented, self-motivated and dedicated individual to join our Operations Team as a Structures Superintendent.

 

JOB PURPOSE
The Structures Superintendent is responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing site-level construction operations. They assure projects are constructed in accordance with company safety program, contract documents, project schedule, & PM budget.

 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review contract documents, scope of work, drawings, and specifications prior to starting a new job site
  • Identify any variances and submit to Construction Manager for RFI
  • Prepare Superintendent Baseline Schedule in advance of receiving estimate
  • Review project budget and cost coding with Construction Manager
  • For applicable projects, participate actively in internal Project Handover and/or Kick-Off meetings
  • Ensure all necessary permits are obtained
  • Provide pertinent project information to Foremen
  • Prepare and provide layout/construction drawings to Foremen
  • Coordinate and schedule Foremen, crew members, and equipment requirements
  • Coordinate and schedule works with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepare and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedule(s)
  • Maintain CPM tracking schedule
  • Document client communications through meeting minutes, emails, or notes in diary
  • Participate actively in job site meetings
  • Ensure that Change Order and Force Account Works are authorized by the client and documented prior to performing the work
  • Review, verify, and integrate job costs in ERP software
  • Review Foreman timesheets daily. Integrate reports into ERP software within 48 hours
  • Provide email confirmation of completed pay-period integration to Payroll Clerk and Division Manager
  • Prepare Daily Quantity Reports (DQR) for monthly progress billing(s)
  • Ensure compliance with the project-level Quality Control and/or Quality Management Plan(s)
  • Coordinate on-site Quality Control testing
  • Monitor, report, and address deficiencies
  • Actively participate in the corporate Integrated Management System (NCR, RAR, & OFI processes)
  • Actively seek to participate in skill-development opportunities.
  • Actively participate in the skill/professional development of Foreman and key crew members.
  • Ensure workers receive job-specific & specialized training (Fall Protection, Confined Space, Rigging, Traffic Control)
  • Participate in equipment allocation scheduling
  • Ensure site-equipment operators perform daily maintenance & checks
  • Ensure Daily Field Equipment Reports (DFERs) and Pre-Trip inspections for site-equipment are completed and submitted daily
  • Ensure site-level equipment issues are immediately reported to the equipment department

Location: Great Vancouver Area

Schedule: 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday

Pay: $85,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

  • Ability to read and interpret site plans/blueprints and look up specification from MoTI / MMCD
  • Have a working knowledge of construction Contracts and terminology
  • Have a working knowledge of typical construction phasing processes (startup, execution, close-out)
  • Have a working knowledge of change management procedures
  • Have a working knowledge of site-level Survey and Layout from provided control points (Transit and Builder’s Level)
  • Computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, ERP software, & project collaboration
  • Ability to measure and verify quantities using basic mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry

Desirable Qualifications

  • Red Seal in Carpentry
  • Certificate - Bridge Inspection Course (BCIT Online Education)
  • CCA Gold Seal – Superintendent
