In Chicago, VINCI Construction Major Projects is supporting the Red Line extension, adding 9 km of tracks and four new stations to improve mobility, reduce inequalities in transit access, and promote low-carbon urban transportation.
We are looking for an Environmental Engineer VIE (F/M) to support environmental excellence on this major construction project, ensuring compliance and best practices on site.

What can you expect as an Environmental Engineer on the Red Line Extension Project?
Reporting to the Project Environmental Manager, you will support environmental compliance and alignment with regulations and corporate commitments.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Environmental Management on Site
- Oversee all environmental aspects of construction activities and ensure compliance with the Environmental Impact Management Plan, the Construction Process Plans and relevant HSE regulations.
- Support teams with environmental risk assessments and develop site-specific protocols (spill response, waste management, inspection checklists).
- Attend safety meetings as required by Project Management, while promoting strong environmental and safety practices across the site.
Environmental Compliance & Audits
- Monitor environmental impacts, conduct inspections and audits, and ensure compliance with permits and regulations.
- Advise site management on risks and improvements, analyseanalyze incidents and near misses, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Lead ISO 14001 and internal audits, track progress of action plans, and maintain updated knowledge of standards and legal requirements.
Training & Communication
- Deliver toolbox talks, awareness sessions, and emergency preparedness drills.
- Organize environmental training, workshops, and the Annual Environmental Week.
- Communicate clearly with the workforce to embed good environmental practices.
Environmental Reporting
- Prepare reliable environmental reports and consolidate KPIs/extra-financial indicators.
- Improve data collection and reporting processes, support teams in meeting requirements, and maintain project documentation.
- AnalyseAnalyze environmental and economic impacts to strengthen project performance.
Continuous Improvement & Initiatives
- Participate in environmental initiatives and working groups, test and integrate new solutions.
- Develop a best-practice catalogue to support ongoing improvement.
Profil
What about you?

- You are an engineering school or university graduate, with a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. This way, you’ll have a first academic and theoretical knowledge of our environmental stakes.
- To help you take on your first missions and feel at ease with the assignments, you understand the basis of environmental audits standards, and of basic safety programs (firefighting is a bonus!)
- To succeed in data analysis, visualization, and storage, proficiency in tools like Power BI, SharePoint, and Excel is welcomed.
- As you can see, there is a lot going on! You’ll need to juggle audits, reporting, and on-site follow-ups. Being structured and self-driven will make your day-to-day smoother and more efficient.
- You define yourself as a creative thinker who approaches environmental challenges with innovative solutions. Your proactive mindset, anticipating risks and proposing improvements will help you stay ahead of issues and make a real impact on the project.
- Our teams are close-knit, and collaboration is key to making an impact. Your curiosity and sociability will help you integrate quickly, adapt to different environments, and effectively engage with the on-site teams across the project.
- Your everyday life will be in English: as such, you need to feel confident enough about your English level, in terms of writing but also speaking.
- Having your driving license is necessary.
