Description of the assignment
Engineering Lead
Location: Bristol
Hybrid working (2 days at home, 3 days in the office)
Project: New-Build PWR
Nuvia is looking for an established Civil/Structural Engineering Lead to support on a Nuclear New-Build PWR project for one of our key clients.
You will be responsible for managing the early design activities starting from concept and basic design and lead to the completion of details design. You will also provide civil and structural design input supporting the multi-disciplinary teams who will be involved in civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical design and services.
Engineering Lead responsibilities:
- Ensuring effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinating the technical assessment of contracts prior to signature of contract.
- Providing technical management of the Contract(s), including being the primary point of contact for the programme’s project managers.
- Coordinate engineering design activities performed by the different Contract Partners in parallel work streams.
- Managing the surveillance of the Contract Partner(s) design work, in conjunction with NNB’s technical management, in accordance with project processes.
- Ensuring consistency of deliverables with the contract technical specifications and ensuring Safety and UK Context requirements are considered in design activities.
- Leading the resolution of transverse (multi-programme) engineering issues or risks.
- Manage the coordinate and consolidate comments provided by all the Stakeholders during the deliverables review process.
- Lead discussions with the Contract Partner, providing support to the NNB Project Manager with early warning and compensation events, reviewing project change requests and provide support to the commercial lead for cost and schedule impact assessment and negotiation.
Profile
Engineering Lead skills and qualifications:
- Degree or above in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Chartership status appreciated.
- Experience in design management and coordination on large multi-discipline infrastructure projects.
- Experience in nuclear industry appreciated with awareness of the nuclear safety related constraints.
- Solid Technical knowledge of building design and construction.
- Excellent knowledge of engineering procedures especially RIBA plan of work 2020, or equivalent.
- Experienced in buildings standards and engineering procedures in the UK.
- Currently hold security clearance or eligible to obtain is essential.
