Senior Mechanical Engineer

Permanent or Contract

Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth 

Working Requirements: Remote with travel to site 2-3 times per month.

 

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be supporting the project team to deliver the Dockside Rigs and Dock Bottom Village to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost. Responsible for managing the engineering and technical aspects from identification of the need through to handover.

 

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget. This will also include ensuring the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.

 

The role holder will be required to comply with effective Quality Management
Arrangements, operating and delivering through compliance with the Business Management System and Technical Manual.

Profile

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences:

  • A degree, degree apprentice or demonstrable time served in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council (or actively working towards).
  • Relevant engineering office computer applications - (essential)
  • Buildings Information Management (BIM) - (desirable)
  • CDM 2015 regs
  • Awareness of NEC 4 ECC and PSC contracts (Options A, C & E)
  • CEMAR - (desirable)
  • Sound project specification, planning, project management and budgeting
    experience to support design, construction / manufacture, acceptance, installation, operation and repair.
  • Experience of substantiation of process equipment for justification of Nuclear Safety Functions.
  • Mechanical Handling Systems.
  • Building Services and HVAC (ideally in Nuclear applications).
  • Heavy Industry Workshop and Process Lines.
