Description of the assignment

The Vice President of Energy Storage is the company’s senior technical and operational leader for subsurface energy storage assets, including salt caverns, leaching operations, conversion and management of depleted reservoirs, and underground storage of natural gas, NGLs, and hydrocarbons.
This executive will oversee strategy, technical excellence, project execution, regulatory
compliance, risk management, and commercial development across the energy storage business line.
The VP will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and oversee both office‑based work and high‑impact field operations. Responsibilities include defining long‑term storage strategy, managing major capital projects, directing well and cavern operations, developing budgets, guiding client relationships, and ensuring safe and compliant execution of all programs.
Frequent travel may be required to see strategic projects, supervise critical operations, meet clients, and engage with regulatory agencies.



SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Drive commercial growth through existing and new client engagement, proposal oversight, and development of new service offerings.
• Define and implement long‑term strategy for salt cavern, mined cavern and depleted reservoir storage operations.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, on-time engineering and operational services.
• Lead risk assessments and operational readiness reviews for all major projects.
• Maintain the highest HSE standards across office and field environments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering and project management teams.
• Oversee engineering design and execution for:
o Salt cavern, mined cavern creation, leaching programs, workovers, integrity testing, and expansions.
o Storage well drilling, completions, recompletions, sidetracks, and workovers.
o Conversion and optimization of depleted reservoirs for gas, NGL, and hydrocarbon storage.
• Oversee preparation of operational reports, economics, project budgets, regulatory filings, and final well/cavern reports.
• Approve detailed drilling, leaching, and workover programs, including well trajectories, stimulation, diagnostics, and equipment selection.
• Ensure consistent application of best practices in cavern stability, geomechanical analysis, well integrity, and reservoir performance.
• Oversee vendor qualification, bid evaluations, and procurement strategies.
• Provide executive oversight for field operations, ensuring safe, efficient execution.
• Direct major operational activities, including:
o Cavern leaching and washing programs
o Mechanical integrity tests
o Storage facility interventions
o Commissioning of new cavern or reservoir storage assets
• Implement KPI tracking, performance improvements, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations
• Represent the company in high‑level stakeholder engagements, regulatory meetings, and industry forums.

Profile

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in petroleum engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 20+ years of relevant experience, with extensive leadership responsibilities.
• Deep technical expertise in:
o Salt cavern and mined cavern operations, leaching
o Workovers and well integrity
o Natural gas, NGL, and hydrocarbon storage
o Depleted reservoir conversion and management
• Experience in key US storage sites (Mt Belvieu, TX) required.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary technical teams and large capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. storage regulations, cavern integrity standards, and industry codes.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively and support field operations across the U.S.
