Description of the assignment
THE POSITION
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the daily accounting and cashflow operations. They will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, compliance reporting and policies.
PRINCIPAL/ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Ensures all accounting processes are in place and followed.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly and yearly account closure procedures.
- Prepares and reports entities accounting closing on a quarterly basis, including balance sheets and profit and loss accounts with specific follow up (general ledger, accounts payable, accruals, accounts receivable, payroll, assets register, foreign exchange, cash, etc.).
- Ensures that the reported results comply with accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards
Cash flow responsibilities such as timely approval of payments of suppliers, preparation of payments, monitoring of the corporate credit card, bank monitoring, including bank reconciliation and manage relationship with the bank. - Ensure a regular and reliable inventory of fixed asset.
Coordinates with our projects in the USA on all accounting matters. - Coordinates with payroll manager for all accounting and taxes payroll related matters.
- Assist with tax filing and other mandatory filing.
- Assist with audit requirements (internally and externally).
- Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets and forecasts.
- Make best-practices recommendations to management.
- Perform other duties for the Finance Controller and or the
- Chief Finance Officer of the USA as required and requested,
- Supervises the Staff Accountant.
Profile
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor s degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience.
- Detailed understanding of payroll.
- Working knowledge of accounting and payroll (e.g. ADP Workforce Now) systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and to work well with others under deadline situations.
- Ability to take initiatives, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
- Diligence and a methodical approach to work.
- Employ critical thinking skills and analysis.
Preferred
- Accounting experience within the construction industry.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office environment, at times in a field office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The employee is required to stand; walk; climb ladders; sit; use hands, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Lift up to 25 lbs. with personal protective equipment (PPE)
- General office duties including typing, use of phone, filing, etc.
