Description of the assignment

To complement and strengthen our existing teams, we have the following vacancy:

A position has become available for a Payroll Assistant to work in our busy Finance Department. This role in an opportunity to process the weekly payroll across an established group in the construction sector, acting as maternity cover.

The key tasks of processing the weekly payroll includes:

  • Collation of timesheets
  • Calculating additional pay items (e.g. subsistence, bonus, fares and travel, etc)
  • Calculate and monitor any sickness pay/paternity pay etc
  • Formatting relevant spreadsheets, compiling information for Key personnel
  • Deal with employee queries, liaise with HR and administer payroll deduction schemes (pension, childcare vouchers, court orders etc.)
  • PAYE Reconciliation/Payment
  • Gender Pay Gap Reporting
  • Engineer/ Foreman Cost Allocation
  • Working accurately to tight deadlines to meet the requirements of the department
  • Assisting others within the department when required, including annual leave cover.

Profile

  • Payroll knowledge and understanding – Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of processing multiple weekly payrolls in a group environment
  • The candidate should have good communication skills for liaising with internal and external parties frequently via telephone and email.
    Knowledge of COINS would be preferable but training on this will be given
  • Previous experience of Using Microsoft Office packages, including Excel is required
  • The candidate will be working in a busy environment where time is of the essence therefore, they should be able to work to strict timetables whilst maintaining a keen eye for detail

The office is based in Burscough, Lancashire.

The hours are 37.5 hours per week: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 with a 1hr unpaid lunch break.
